Please support our ACO friends in Cobourg!

  1. Attend the Town Council Meeting where a vote on the designation will be taking place on Wednesday, May 28 at 6 pm in the Council Chambers (3rd Floor, Victoria Hall).
  2. Write to The Mayor and Council Members to show your concern, suggested wording: ‘I support the immediate designation of Brookside to protect its important heritage character and buildings.’ (see emails below)

The Architectural Conservancy of Ontario’s Cobourg and East Northumberland branch (ACOC&EN) needs your help to ensure Council designates the important heritage assets of Brookside, including the beautiful Strathmore House.

Recently the perimeter security fence was removed by the new owner, leaving Strathmore House unprotected and vulnerable to vandalism or defacement. This adds to the urgency for protections provided by designation under the Heritage Act for Strathmore House (as well at the Rowe Estate Stable Block). Both remain at risk of possible destruction and demolition.
