One of the roles of an Architectural Conservancy of Ontario branch such as ACO Port Hope is to advocate for the preservation of threatened heritage properties. From encouraging the protection of heritage properties through listing, designation and the creation of Heritage Conservation Districts to advocating with our municipal and provincial governments to stop the removal or demolition of important heritage attributes, ACO Port Hope has worked hard to help preserve important aspects of Port Hope’s cultural and historical identity.
