Update from The Municipality of Port Hope: July 19, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that ACO Port Hope acknowledges the devastating fire that occurred on July 14th, 2024 at the File Factory.
It is a sad moment for those who had high hopes for the future of this important industrial heritage landscape on the Ganaraska River. It is particularly disheartening when one remembers that this potentially beautiful site is privately owned and still zoned industrial.
ACO Port Hope will continue to advocate for the adaptive re-use of this historic property and hopes to be involved in the future planning for the site. The creation of an effective riverside walk through the property is a leading priority.
